It’s an exciting time for us at The Farm, as we are FINALLY harvesting some of our own produce!

In the boxes this week, the lettuce and swiss chard are grown right on our Farm

With that being said, we don’t have a fancy hydro-cooler like the large commercial farms do, after harvesting our greens they get a dunk in an ice bath then stored in a refrigerated unit for 12 hours until they get shipped to you.

Upon arrival, the greens may be a little wilted- a cold rinse again in the sink will perk them up, then wrap in a dishtowel and store in the fridge until ready to use.

This weeks contents:

Buttercrunch lettuce- the perfect lettuce for lettuce wraps

Swiss Chard- all parts of the plant are edible! Great sauteed with bacon & garlic- a splash of balsamic vinegar at the end will add a little sweetness.

Carrots- store in the fridge

Garlic- May arrive a little wet- it should dry out and be fine for use. Store in a dry, dark place

Frying Peppers- These peppers are sweet, not hot. Keep in the fridge- the best pepper for sausage & peppers.

Mango- Keep on the counter until ripe or store in the fridge. Click here for instructions on how to cut a mango!

Nectarines- Keep on counter until they have reached desired ripeness or store in the fridge.

Cucumbers- Store in the fridge.
