The rain over the past couple of days is going to really make the fields jump!

This week’s box contains:

Red leaf lettuce- Farm grown- may be a little parched upon arrival- a nice cold water rinse and wrap in a dishtowel then store in the fridge until ready for use. Best if used within 5 days.

Spring Onions- Farm grown- these little sweet gems are a farm family favorite! An easy side dish recipe: trim the root ends and cut the greens halfway up the stems. In saute pan, melt 4 tablespoons of good butter (Kerry’ gold or similar) place onions in melted butter and sprinkle with kosher salt. Braise until nicely browned and enjoy! Store in the fridge for up to a week.

Yellow Squash- Farm grown- small and tender. Best if used within 2 days.

Baby Bok Choy- Farm grown. Store in fridge. Wash well before use as there is usually sand in the base of the stems. Great for stirfry’’s, on the grill, or can be used raw in salads.

Celery- Store in the crisper section of the fridge.

Pickling Cucumbers- These smaller versions of their larger brothers pack a nice crunch and great flavor! Perfect for snacking, vegetable platters, or they make the perfect pickles. Store in the crisper section of the fridge. Use within 5-7 days.

Apples- Empire variety- store in fridge or on the counter. Best if used within 1 week

Pears- store in the fridge or counter based on desired amount of ripeness.
